Welcome, one and all, to the era of THE BEST WISHES! This month, we met the Wishforts, their friends, their love interests, and even their potential enemies. Who’s your favorite character so far? What do you think is up with Leigh? Do you think Millie and Michael will last the show? Tell us our social media: Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram! We’d love to hear what you think. 10 episodes of THE BEST WISHES are currently online, totaling to a 24 minute watch, so now is the perfect time to catch up!
In other news, we heard you like merch????? We’re currently selling these amazing Viola Messing football shirts designed by Nicole Mericle from now until the 21st of November, so if you want one, make sure you grab it as soon as possible! The website won’t print and ship the shirts unless we sell at least five!
And now, here’s everyone’s favorite Foster, Lincoln, and Lane, the one, the only, Daniel Fisher-Golden!
Hey y’all Dan here; 2018 has been a wonderful year for me overall! I spent some time living in Australia from January through the end of April, and I had a marvelous time learning about both the world and myself. I’ve also just returned from a trip to California where I got to see myself on the big screen for the first time starring in the independent feature film, Huckleberry.
After dedicating two years to make this film, it was such a proud moment for me to see the result of everyone’s hard work. I’ve also been continuing with school which takes up a majority of my time. Having already begun my Master’s program, I am wrapping up my Bachelor’s degree as I work on my final thesis short-film (I can’t reveal all the details just yet, but I can say it’s a short, light-hearted sci-fi film which will focus on a theme of identity).
Here’s a thank you to the effervescent Jules who was truly the first person to cast me in a project after I had only come out months prior, your belief in me and my identity has been the foundation of all the work I have done and will do. Also much love to anyone reading this newsletter: Stay quippy, stay modest, and, most importantly, stay Quip Modest!

From Dan: This summer I saw Bo Burnham’s film Eighth Grade which resonated with me to my core. It’s a beautiful film about the awkward realities of being 13 in the age of social media. I’ve also been absolutely loving the Netflix animated series Hilda, a beautiful show about a young girl who grew up in the wilderness of a magical land and befriends all sorts of creatures.
From Jules: Friend of Quip Modest Rebecca Shoptaw just put out this beautiful, spooky, autumnal short film, starring our Cecily Cardew, Sara Rahman! Definitely check it out. Also, are you watching Four Pals and a Dog? It’s a wonderful new mystery vlog series that is definitely not based on anything in particular that you might recognize!
